The International Observatory for the Prevention of Femicide and Domestic Violence is a research and policy initiative dedicated to advancing knowledge, monitoring trends, and promoting effective responses to gender-based violence.
Hosted within the academic environment of the Universidade Vila Velha, the Observatory operates as an international hub connecting researchers, policymakers, civil society organizations, and institutional partners committed to preventing violence against women and strengthening accountability mechanisms.
The initiative aims to produce research, data analysis, and policy recommendations that support evidence-based decision-making, particularly in relation to the implementation of legal frameworks addressing gender-based violence, including protective legislation and public safety policies.
Through interdisciplinary collaboration and international dialogue, the Observatory seeks to contribute to the advancement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly:
SDG 5 – Gender Equality
SDG 10 - Reduced Inequalities
SDG 16 – Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions
SDG 17 – Partnerships for the Goals
By fostering cooperation between academia, civil society, and international partners, the Observatory aims to strengthen prevention strategies, improve data transparency, and support global efforts to eliminate femicide and domestic violence.
